I have two:
1. Enjoy my games
2. Win as much as possible :o)
Don't forget that chess is about fun, why should I spend lot of time reading books and getting better when I am perfectly enjoying myself now, for I don't know almost anything and still have plenty to wonder about? :D
Here are mine. It is only for the month of Jan. as I hope to do other readings, etc. the next month. I have been losing so many games lately, I must pick up steam and resolve to work harder.
1. My reading list:
Purdy's Guide to Good Chess (read it several times!)
The Chess Tactics Workbook by Woolum. Work through it all and then if there is time go back through it .
Use my small magnetic chess board and study "Best Lessons of a Chess Coach" by Weeramantry. (I could not decide between that and "Logical Chess Move by Move" by Chernev. But I feel really comfortable with Weeramantry.)
Use the Tactics Trainer here on Chess.com and also Tactics for Beginners by Convecta.
There are so many other books I need to read. Silman's Amateur's Mind and Seirawan's Winning Chess Strategy. and many others. But I have dabbled around with a lot of new books, not really delving deeply into them.
So when Jan.1, 2009 rolls around soon, I am going to resolve to stick with my choices and hopefully grow from an in depth study of a few books and not just be like a honey bee and go form book to book, sampling several and learning nothing deep that sticks.
What about you?
