What is the material most used to fabricate chess pieces?
No doubt that wood is the classical and noblest material for that issue, but it is handicapped by the weakness found at the base of the cross on top of the King, which can easily broke if the piece falls.
So, manufacturers have found a material which looks like wood (I have a fine set made in France) but is not wood and is not that commonly named "plastic" material.

Would any of you know something about it?
Thanks
