I don't know about chessbase, but yes there is a free chess app.
On the Android there is an app called MarketPlace where you can download a wide variety of things.
If you go into the MarketPlace and search Chess.com you can download the free chess app we have on there.
With our app, you can play turn based games, tactics trainer, computer chess and live chess. (with diamond membership you can also watch the instructional videos).

am planning to buy samsung galaxy tab,,with android of 3.1
and i dont know whether is it possible to download chess base on it whether reader 11 or any 1 just to be able to do opening reports and review my openings
so nicely if any 1 have an idea abt that plz share it cz thats vital 4 me...ah and 1 more thing is there any other free chess applications known 4 android?
