Dears,

Do you think a beginner like me would benefit from practicing with computer chess software? If so, how about Deep Fritz 14?

Regards,

Yes, but not ordinary games. Use the computer to help you analyse your games and to practice winning won positions. Fritz 14 is very good.

In my opinion it would be better to focus on other things (study plan), with engine assistance playing a small part (second last paragraph in tactics training).

Imo all DVD's, software, books and coaching programs for beginners are commercial nonsense. You can learn the basic principles of chess yourself since there are tons of free resources available on the internet.

I got Deep Fritz 14 finally.

Thank you all for your inputs.

Chessmaster 3000 has Karpov multimedia content which is actually very very good.

Use DOShell and DOSBox and download Chessmaster 3000 for DOS free.

The last Chessmaster engine written by Dave Kittinger!

Thank goodness for DosBox!
