Chess Tactics server, can it be improved?

Hi,
I've tried a number of chess tactics sites (including chess.com) as I am told that chess tactics problem solving is a good way to improve chess game. As a low ranking player I have the following problem with this method of learning.
1. All I see is a chess board configuration. What are the goals? ie: Mate in 2? Sacrifice? Block? Pin? etc. I usually fail to solve the problem because I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for.
2. When I ask for the solution I see the correct moves but no explanation why.
Every chess tactics server seems to have the same problem. Can it not be a bit more helpful than this?
(Just my perspective.)
