I'm a complete Chess Tactics Server addict, in my opinion it's the most efficient way to train your tactical vision. Does anyone else on this site use it? Any opinions or theories on tactical improvement or best ways use the site?

In case anyone is wondering I'm talking about http://chess.emrald.net

1892 is a VERY high rating there by the way! How many tries have you done?

edit: Uhh...are you sure it's 1892? I checked and the highest rated person from India has 1840.

edit #2: Hehe...nice try pal...I think I found you Tongue out

Chess Tactics Server is good for one of two things depending on how you use it, improving your tactical vision/recogntion or wasting time.

An interesting read there Loomis. I read quite a few chess improvement blogs, I even keep a small one here at chess.com. Most of the bloggers I come across seem to think that a high accuracy is more important than a high rating, I tend to agree with that and hope to get my accuracy closer to 80% someday.

I used to practice under a registered handle at CTS but I found it counter-productive because I became obsessed with my rating and went for speed over accuracy to gain rating points. I now use it almost everyday as a guest and try to focus on being as accurate as possible. This seems to be better for my chess and a lot less stressful!

I think it's a fantastic tool for tactical training. The tactics trainer here at chess.com is quite similar, but suffers from the same potential "rating obsession" pitfall.

Certainly computers are the best way to learn tactics (as opposed to books) because you can do a lot more problems in a shorter amount of time. There's no looking in the back of the book for the answers, and the loading of a new problem is instantaneous. I almost never use books for tactics now, even when I don't have the internet available I have a copy of George Renko's "Intensive course tactics" in my computer bag at all times.

Simply interface-wise, I prefer chesstempo.com to the CTS, though I'm not registered at either.

I also love CTS but I only seem to be able to login to it when I'm using Chrome; Firefox and Internet Explorer do not seem to work (I just get a blankhttp://chess.emrald.net/login.php page).
