Chess Tournament Dress Code

Why do the rapid and blitz championship players have to dress like they're going to their grandmother's funeral? Kinda stupid IMO

when it comes to restricting people's freedoms you starting with the wrong assumptions

you should dress professional or business casual. and for women the less revealing clothes will be preferable so as not to potentially distract opponents.

Yes, I agree. Definitely should enforce some dress code (like... uhhh... wear clothes lol)... I'd even be in favor of smart casual. But this is too much for me

The only type of chess tournament where a dress code makes sense is a strip chess tournament.

there is no dress code in pro poker and they make le big bucks.
we just have to endure outdated FIDE customs.
