I think checkers doesn't get a fair shake among chess people.  It must be very hard to master.  Even though there is less game-tree complexity it is still impossible to calculate to the end.  In any case I know I'm no good at checkers :)

is there a website like chess.com for draughts. Note the english name but i could still play checkers

Depends on who you ask.

Gentlemen prefer chess.

bigpoison

But, I too, prefer chess.

This reminds me of an old Sopranos rerun I saw a few weeks ago. The old uncle with the black glasses was in a nursing home where this other old coot had been harassing him for no particular reason. It all came to a head when they were all in the rec room where the old mobster (can't remember his name) was playing checkers with another resident. His nemesis picks out a chess set, and states that real men prefer chess. Wimps play checkers. The mobster then jumps up, and dumps the chess player on his arse. The scene ended with him laying on the floor with chess pieces laying all around him.

Weird

Checkers use only one half of the board - what a waste. Anyway, are we talking about checker, shasky, or the game played on 10x10 board?

Are you from Belgrade Yugoslavia
pawn_e4

thanks very much NM RED will definately use those sites

American checkers and english draughts are played on an 8x8 board ( like chess ) I believe.

blake78613

draughts is sometimes played on 8x8 board, but I think 10x10 is the standard.

speepman123
Is it?
waffllemaster

No, I think 8x8 is standard.  I've seen 10x10 before, I thought it was specific to a certain country though... and too lazy to google it lol.

*Edit  -- google says to me that 10x10 board is international checkers rules.

I thought they finally solved checkers.

Some say they've solved tic-tac-toe too, but that doesn't stop me from losing a game!

lol jk... but seriously checkers would still be challenging and fun.  Maybe not for professional competition though, due to it being solved.
