Hi

I would like to know if there is any software or application I can use to show my little brother how to play chess.

I would like to be able to show him tricks, with arrows and highlights I can use on the board as well as I can speak with him at the same time.

I have found nothing. What do chess trainers use then for their online one-on-one lessons ?

Thanks !

If you are a premium member here you can share the live chess interface with other members. Mix that up with something like Skype and you would have everything you need. I'm sure there are other solutions too that others might be able to mention.

Usually online lessons are with people who already know how to move the pieces. Especially with young children, I find computer based anything to be a major pain. Their attention span is already so low, and here they are one click away from anything. I don't know how old your little brother is, but you might try to use the live chess analysis board with skype. The problem there is that kings must be on the board, and the sides must alternate moves, which I find rather annoying, but you can work around that.

Best of all is to just use a real chessboard in person.

^^^ yup. Chess board in person is the way to go especially if he doesn't play at all.

I believe screen sharing is an option in Skype.
