When the actual discussion is not continuing, the reasonable posters stop posting and what you have left are the immature trolls who haven't figured it out yet. And perhaps a Maratiggan-style poke or two of those posters...

What I've learned is even though Chess is ultimately finite, the subset that we as humans are able to explore is essentially infinite. We will never play every game which could possibly be played, even the good ones. I have sent an email to Dr. David Kipping, Planet Hunter, of Columbia University to ask him to apply his extensive statistical skills towards Chess. How many worthwhile games, say 800 and above FIDE, could ever possibly be played? ***** I'm not sure where the argument stands, but it seems that chess has been solved to a certain degree. Will it ever ultimately be solved? Guess it's time for me to go back through the comments.

People can form their own opinions by reading the thread. It's a damn sight better than any of the other solving chess threads.

Probably someone unfamiliar with the thread will put in a comment and then the same handful of die-hards will have another extensive go-around.
