Chess will never be solved, here's why

Probably someone unfamiliar with the thread will put in a comment and then the same handful of die-hards will have another extensive go-around.

That's 1. Only 999 to go. (Sorry, 998.)

Chess has already been solved about 150 years ago or more. You have stuff like the Greek Gift.

Tygxc is not posting, ergo, all the troll posts and content-less posts.  It's not hard to understand.  When the actual discussion is not continuing, the reasonable posters stop posting and what you have left are the immature trolls who haven't figured it out yet.  And perhaps a Maratiggan-style poke or two of those posters...

You're saying there was a meaningful discussion? Not just MAR and ty chasing each other's tails? I hadn't noticed anything meaningful for weeks.

Refuting misinformation before it spreads is always worthwhile.

What I've learned is even though Chess is ultimately finite, the subset that we as humans are able to explore is essentially infinite. We will never play every game which could possibly be played, even the good ones. I have sent an email to Dr. David Kipping, Planet Hunter, of Columbia University to ask him to apply his extensive statistical skills towards Chess. How many worthwhile games, say 800 and above FIDE, could ever possibly be played? ***** I'm not sure where the argument stands, but it seems that chess has been solved to a certain degree. Will it ever ultimately be solved? Guess it's time for me to go back through the comments.

I might be sorry for chiming in after reading some of the early comments. I think there's everything from quantum physics to Oswald conspiracy theories here.

This thread is largely garbage compared to others on the topic.  Try this one out, though:

Try that thread and he gets to troll you if he disagrees with your opinion. If you get annoyed and say something back, he'll warn you. Then he'll troll you some more and then he'll block you when you say something indiscreet.

He's a troll who trolls his own threads. Noted for it. Doesn't like being disagreed with.

"Noted" by one person, yes.

People can form their own opinions by reading the thread.  It's a damn sight better than any of the other solving chess threads.

"Doesn't like being disagreed with" is more your epitaph than mine.
