Chess will never be solved, here's why

some forums with great topics end for no reason a lot of the time
I don't know what that means.
If there was 'no reason' there was still something that Caused whatever thread to end.
Whether it was lack of interest or people found other threads more interesting or both.
The Cause is the Reason.
Semantics?
Words will often mean what people prefer they mean.
---------------------
My point: I've seen it probably twenty times the last few months ...
somebody says in a thread 'this thread's still going?? ..."
What are they thinking of?
Why would somebody say that?
But there again - people say what they want to.
And chess.com will let it pass whatever it is over 99% of the time.
There's rules - but still a measure of free speech here.

some forums with great topics end for no reason a lot of the time
Sometimes they just go quiet for a while and then start up again later.
Usually not - because when a thread goes quiet people forget it exists - then its 'gone'.
I'm thinking this thread will keep going for various reasons.

Yep

Thankyou, both. I'm finding out what it's like to be back here. In the meantime, much that's positive has happened in my life. I've been engaging with real life much more and have been very fortunate.
Congrats, hopefully that shows itself in your future postings.

The love story that keeps on giving
Hello everyone, would you like to play chess in the medieval style, where there will be knightly clans, where you can go from squire to master, simultaneously completing tactical tasks and accepting battles

On that score you need to speak for yourself. Don't patronise those you're jealous of.
So, nothing has changed at all then...you're still making up coping narratives. Thanks for the early confirmation. Carry on.

Coping narratives? It's obvious to everyone but your chosen few that you're the one doing that and you always have been. It's been three months and you just can't resist, can you.
I did resist, Sherlock. There's was nothing wrong with what I said, only how you took it. Nobody is jealous of you.
It's been 3 months and you could not resist, apparently. Your doctors will be disappointed, I am guessing.

Dio is right as always.
The Guy claims he's 'better' but comes back from his long mutings by chess.com already starting to 'love to hate it' being here. Never getting it that he doesn't do well here.
And never getting it that him constantly making himself fragile and delicate doesn't help him.
And he doesn't get it that his projection doesn't help him either.
And already with his delusions that people are 'jealous' of him.
Nobody is. But are there a couple of exceptions?
One who got active here during the Guy's long mutes by chess.com.
And another who wishes he could troll as intensely but keeps failing on that.

In a way the game has that. Pawn promotion.
News in chess: Carlsen 'gets in trouble' regarding a big tournament's dress code.
A World headline apparently.
But that seems to be resolved now.
The 'solved' in chess. And the unsolved.

Your determination to continue your drive for popularity by pushing it to the outermost extremes is exemplary for all. Equally, showing others how not to act by example is a great strategy.
My initial post was not the problem here. Welcome right back to where you've always been. You'll be in this same position the remainder of your days, I suspect.

I'll skip reading the last two posts. They're almost certainly trolling.
Perhaps worth a glance if somebody quotes and replies.
The Guy is not here to discuss the forum subject. But will attempt to disguise that sometimes.
Like 'if we have perfect information we should know the result'
Then another member posted a long integer and said something like 'we perfectly know this number but that doesn't mean we know its factors'
'The Guy' was aced instantly. As he was when he got very excited when he looked up 'Zemelo' on the internet and felt he had scored some kind of massive victory. He was quickly embarassed.

Chess will probably never be solved, because the people with the capacity to solve it are more concerned with matters of real consequence.

Probably trolling is a big factor in "why threads end". Some people troll them and then try to get them closed down because there's trolling going on there. There's very little free speech allowed on this site except on unimportant topics.
Note how you were the one to start the negativity, as always. Does your family know you are posting here again? I suspect not.
You are always going to reap what you sow here. The fact that you are oblivious to this dooms you to repeat history. Just stop posting snarky comments. If you don't like smugness, don't engender it. It's telling that your first comment upon returning is to go straight back to your trolling conspiracy theories and chess.com curtailing your right to post nonsense.
I don't need anyone supporting me, as you well know from a decade of being on the losing end of things.
This thread is STILL going on???
The problem with Chess being "solved" is that, we can never figure out human intuition completely. We will never know what our opponents next inoptimal move would be. Even the most learned player could fall prey to a moment's dumb luck on the part of a lesser experienced player.
That aside, My main question was: do we CARE and WANT chess to be solved?
Some threads continue indefinitely. There is no reason that a thread should end arbitrarily.
This thread continues because the idea of it is basically relevant to the game.
