chessbase engines comparison?

Hello everyone. I'm planning to purchase one of the chessbase line of engines (Fritz, Shredder, Junior, Hiarcs). I'm wondering which among these 4 would be the best all-around engine. I would also appreciate comparisons between their styles.

I'm a beginner and mostly using the engine for analysis, maybe playing against it when I'm bored of chessmaster.

In short, which should I get?

Thanks.

so I went ahead and just got Fritz, hopefully it was a good choice

Why would you want to buy these engines when you can get a better stronger engine for free?

I heard that Houdini 1.5 is rated +50 more than Rybka 4.

Fritz 12 is great, it will help you analyze your games.  Same thing with Rybka 4 and Houdini.  At our amateur level, all three will provide substantially similar assistance in post-game review.

At the margins of computer greatness, Rybka 4 and Houdini are "better" than Fritz; but those computer matches of 60+ moves probably mean very little to what any of them will provide to you in terms of assistance.

No need to second guess yourself.  But if you want to play around, download Houdini too since it's free and let it play Fritz 12.  Or let both analyze your games and look at where they diverge on plans.  Studying those variances isn't worth a whole lot of time though IMHO.
