Is chess.com more about the chess or the friends? It is a decision you can never decide !

It's a curious thing: premium members are allowed extra tournaments, extra videos, extra analyses ... but NOT extra friends. What's that all about?

Hmmm-- well, we do get the swanky elites-only forum.  Maybe that's intended to make up for the lack of actual additional friends.  It's like fancy rich clubs where members aren't expected to be friends with any other members, but rather to just enjoy the fact that other people aren't allowed to be there.

i think basic people should be allowed more options like at least get to be SA !
