Well your average opponent rating is less than you current rating. Not saying that's the total reason, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were a factor.
Chess.com rating
Look up Elo rating on the net. The basic idea is that you gain more points for beating someone much stronger than by beating someone much lower. And vice versa for losing points - you lose more points for a loss to a lower player than to an equal or higher player. If your rating is stable but you win twice as often, then the math would indicate that the average rating gap to your wins is less than the average rating gap to your losses.
If your last 10 games are typical, you're playing oppoents who are rated 100-150 points below your rating. At that difference, your rating decreases 8-10 points for each loss, and it increases 4-5 points for each win. Thus, for a 2 to 1 win ratio, your rating remains the same.
Are the ratings on chess.com equivalent to the ratings one would get if he were playing at uscf rated events? Would they be higher or lower?
I have stopped challenging opponents rated lower than me. I try to play people at least equal to me if not higher. If I lose to a player rated 150-200 pts higher than me than it doesn't effect my rating all that much but if I win my rating takes a nice jump. Plus I learn more from my games playing stronger opponents. I used to care about my rating but not anymore. In the long run if I improve than my rating will reflect it.
Frank, yep, they tend to be higher here. Probable reasons, people pay money to play in a tournament and so are a lot more serious about their games, plus they take longer to move, from thinking longer. If you paid money and took the time to travel to a USCF tourney, then you WILL generally take it more seriously. At home, playing here, often people may go to the fridge to get a beer, or something else came up more important, like feed the dog, answer the phone, tell their wife how pretty their new dress is, etc., thus they rush moves or don't take it so seriously, so you beat these guys more often, causing your rating to be higher here.
Why does my rating remain about the same considering the fact that I win twice as many games as I lost? Most times, much more points are lost for a single lost game than for a won game. Also, is that how it works in OTB tournaments?
