Yeah some people can't use Google but they can use other people.

you wont get any better if all you do is play a bunch of games. Deliberate practice is necessary.

Yes, that's right:  you have to deliberately play a bunch of games.

lol

But that's true.  The secret to getting better at chess is as annoying as the secret to getting better at pretty much anything.  Work hard at it :)

Read books, challenge yourself to play the best moves you can find in long games, and challenge yourself to find all your mistakes after the games in analysis.

kco

play against higher rated player than you, properply already said that somewhere in that bunch of rules.

That "odd humour" doesn't grow on trees. Personally, it costs me a lot of money to be that silly.Laughing

Atos

You have to deliberately practice. The same as English I guess, you wouldn't be able to produce such a beautiful sentence as "how can edit out a this odd humor" without deliberate practice.

tonydal had a comment on another thread, which approximates to "if you turn down a legitimate draw offer, you are likely to make a blunder soon".

You know for me, that is so true. It's like my entire game falls apart after declining what was probably a legitimate draw offer. Hard to explain, methinksSmile

Atos

So, the way to go is to offer a draw, then your defences fall apart Laughing.

I mean, offer a draw, because I may not know that the position is drawn, and once I decline, I prove it by losingLaughing

mreedy

i was playing in a tournament the other day and my opponent ask me for a draw on my time. i told him that he should have asked on his time then immediately blundered.

No doubt there is a thread somewhere, because every topic seems to be covered in some manner or another.  I'm not complaining, because I've learned quite a lot reading the threads, and laughed a lot, too.

mreedy
