After continuing studying it I believe I have it figured out.
opp= opponent's pawn
myp= my pawn
cfd= contempt for draw etc.

I think you're on the right track. Also,
cc = control of center
mob = mobility
ks = king safety
mypp = own passed pawns
pw = pawn weakness
avd = attacker - defender
sel = selective search
Also, based on a thread or two I was reading, it's not clear to me whether that personality is really the strongest one. But you can try it out and see.

If it doesn't have to be The King engine, you could just take a recent strong UCI engine like Stockfish, run it through a polyglot adapter, and blow away any Chessmaster personality.
One more note - I think you clipped a number in your original post. I think "sel=2" should really be "sel=23".
Thanks. I haven't played with Chessmaster for a long time but I will play a few games against DroidFish on my cellphone to get an idea of how good or bad it plays.
I'm not sure what your ultimate goal is with the unofficial Chessmaster personalities, but my impression is that you should only expect an increase in rating of no more than 50 elo points over the default Chessmaster personality.
I picked a few unofficial personalities (Aiglos II, Gil-Galad, and Paralyse), and I'm currently running a Chessmaster 10 tournament to see what the increase is. The downside is that I'll have to run a LOT of games, since the ratings are so close to each other.
Well, after 50 games in CM 10, the Aiglos II personality is roughly around 40 elo over the default CM 10 personality. I'd have to play a lot more games to get a fairly accurate error band.
That's not much of an increase; I'm not sure it's worth the extra effort.

I believe you are right. On a PC or laptop Chessmaster is probably over 2700 and is plenty strong enough for the average user. Its a shame they haven't updated it in several years because it has a lot of good features.There are a couple of other programs that have great potential and I'm surprised the programmers haven't continued work on them. Slow Chess Blitz is also a very strong program with a great interface and with a few more added features such as the ability to add chess engines and maybe have a natural language advice function similar to Chessmaster it would become very popular.
Another is Nagaskaki chess which is the poor man's Chessmaster with various personalities to play against. Unfortunately, it isn't nearly as strong as Chessmaster or Slow Blitz but I can see potential there.
My favorite is Chess Genius Classic by Richard Lang but he only deals with mobile phone apps and has abandoned his program for PC's.
I have read that the Aiglos II personality is much stronger than the default found in the Grandmaster Edition. Here are the settings but I'm not sure how to use them. Can someone tell me how to input these settings under the "Set Up Personality?" Thanks.
