Lacey I found had that..
Chessmaster Personalities

And Vlad, he's much stronger then Lacey, but I've won against him a couple of times - you just need to resist the temptation to play with the same speed as him.
And yes, Lacey is among the few Chessmaster middle-level personalities that don't randomly choose to give away a minor piece at like turn 20.

So is Lacey the one move depth version and Vlad the two move depth version or something of the sort?

"it would be just perfect if they used a fake time-control"
No thanks. No dumbing down the AI's for me. If you find it hard to resist the temptation, use Buddhist Zen practicies.
"So is Lacey the one move depth version and Vlad the two move depth version or something of the sort?"
Basically, yes.

It can be accomplished by establishing a duplicate personality already on the system; giving it the name of the personality you wish, and then pick the settings that you want. The opening book can be one installed, or you manually can create your own from outside sources. It's fun!

Could Carlsen beat Morphy at his best? Maybe.

I had once read that there are personalities on chessmaster that do not mistakes but have limited search depth. These had been suggested as good opponents to practice against since some of the others make random good and bad moves. Does anyone remember this and which personalities they are?
