Choosing an Indian
So, I understand that Serawan's book on openings suggests the King's Indian. Why is that everyone else prefers the Nimzo or Bogo? I'm still puzzled as to why the Old Indian is considered bad.
I think there are plenty of transposition opportunities from Nimzo to Bogo, so Nimzobogo might be appropriate. I'm just wondering what would be the best choice if you have limited study time. Seirawan says King's Indian, Tamburro says Nimzo, I think that the Old might be more offbeat, but I don't know any of them.

In choosing an Indian, you would need a nose plug because they smell bad. . Might be a good idea to get vaccinated. You must also know that the indian is a possible scammer.

I recommend playing over half a dozen games in each and seeing which one produces positions you like and feel you can understand. That's a lot more relevant than strangers' opinions. I picked my Black openings this way when I was in my teens and they have served me pretty well.

Whoever said the King's Indian is bad needs their heads examined. Or maybe better yet, try and explain why Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov, who made careers out of playing the King's Indian, were wrong.
You can't do better than mkkuhner's advice. In the end, we are all blowing hot air until you just sit down with someone or even a computer, and try the openings out for yourself for about a month. Just try 3 or 4, a week at a time and see which one you like. You'll know based on how it feels better than someone telling you what to play.

I have a feeling that Fischer and Kasparov would only play the KID today against someone they were sure did not know its inherent weaknesses.

don't play queen's indian, it's too op, have you ever met a player who would rather play against the queen's indian than those other options? a lot of people avoid nf3 and go for ne2 plans instead just because of the queen's indian. I recommend the king's indian, but only this variation, I don't really like the mainline
old indian is fine, Bronstein sometimes played it so you can look at some of his games.
but yeah, please look into that variation of the king's indian, hardly anybody plays it and it deserves more recognition imo
