currently, I am 2250 and struggling to break 2400-2500+. I want to break that level someday, but keep losing to twomovers, How do GMs and IMs train for the game? Clearly playing blitz 24/7 is useless, but how do titled players use their extreme amount of time to train for the gam?e

Improve your classical chess and your general understanding of positions you play will increase (all the lines you calculate but don’t play in a classical game are what can appear in a blitz game).

Fide or chess.com. Just prep of openings, analyze your and high level games and get a coach for explaning what the top players/engine is saying, but you don’t need a coach, you can see the purpose of that move by yourself but it is harder so coach is recommended. You can also challenge other players and make them stringer than you to see how they play and learn. I recommend positional play. Make sure you know all endgames, and understand your opening, don’t just memorize the moves. The opening is not separate from the middle game, the opening determines what you do in the middle game so that’s why you should understand your openings not just memorize the moves. I hope this helps.

Mostly it is about the opening prep only.. A perfect in detail side-line opening prep in a position where ur opponent wont be familiar grounds whereas u wud be which will help ur opponent to burn time.. When you climb higher in rating, the chances of ur opponent blundering will be less.. But you cud use your opening prep as an advantage which will burn up opponents time and then complicate at the right time which will eventually lead to you winning..

Ideally classical or longer OTB rapid. But if you can’t do that then online rapid is good. Only problem is cheaters but as long as you check the account age before playing you should be good. Aiming for 2400 rapid would be a good goal to have if your objective is 2500 blitz.

Good luck with your chess improvement!
