I wouldn't call myself a christian but being a spiritual person I would definitely call myself a Believer. We could definitely play sometime, chess is a mirror that reflects the one who looks at it, just like God. They're very similar in some ways.

I've never understood people's need to chat during games. To be honest what bothers me the most at chess.com is when people try to start a conversation while playing.

I know that I'm given the chance to disable chat in game, but often I forget to do so and when people speak to me I find it rude not to answer them or block them.

I'm Catholic and I love chess , but I feel little or no need to combine the two activities (at least online).

When I'm playing chess I like to focus on chess and while I'm attending mass I like to think of God, not chess.

Red and yellow are both beautiful colors separately, you don't have to make orange for it to come of as pleasing...

Actually, I find orange to be the lesser of the three colours..

Intellectually, one of humanity's worst qualities.

The ability to see things in a positive light is bad? Faith is the understanding that life is not merely physical and that there is a dimension of life which lends itself to something whole. The wholeness or "holiness" if you will is necessary to exist. Faith is the belief that one day they will come to understand this. Faith is about hope, the hope that one day the better future can be built from the ashes of the smoldering past. People don't need God to be happy, but it certainly helps, and there's nothing wrong with that. By the way, God isn't the reason people fight, God can only unite, since It is a Unity of everything that exists. No. People are the reason people fight. One should be willing to take responsibility for their own lives instead of worrying about spirituality and its "negative affects" on the world.

I admin several Christian groups, both large and small. Christian Chess World requires an application. The Common Ground Chess Chapel is also very active. It is an open group meaning that you don't have to be a Christian to join. The main emphasis of all the Christian groups is to fellowship, to encourage one another, share scripture, lift each other up in prayer, share forum topics and of course, to play chess. If you click on my profile, you will see the groups which I am involved with. If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me.

What denomination of Christian chess group is best?

SoulMate333

Randy, we are all non-denominational, seeking to grow in our relationship with Christ. Personally, I wish that some of the smaller groups would amalgamate... would save me a lot of time lol.

Soulmate333, we replied at the same time, and your reply deleated mine.  I agree, especially the groups kids start, with no trained leadership.  They mean well, but can not answer questions sufficiently.

Hello to all my fellow christian check maters!

I wrote a book called Chess Board of the Soul, which is the strategic application of the bible in chess moves. www.chessboardofthesoul.org

Not trying to be insulting, but I've always wondered why so many religious folks feel the compulsion to akwardly shoehorn their beliefs into every little thing they can.

One of the worst that I've personally witnessed was at a bar I was in during open mic night and some dude was on stage trying to clumsily spin the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses' as a song about Christ and his sacrifice on the Cross.

Is it necessary to be a Christian to join a Christian group?

Alot of worlds wars and debates have been about religion. What if theres not a future for the dead? Maybome their just dead. I understand wanting to belive we can all live forever but common, it doesnt make sense. I also under stand wanting to play and chat with like minded people. But if we could not act like beliving in god equates to happieness or helps even. If you belive a higher power created you, then it also created ants and everyting else youve ever encontered, yet happyness is a man made concept. All other beings have a purpose, yet we have no real purpose. I dont care what yours anyones elses belives. Chess is a game of thought and it may just be me but I'd rather listen and learn from thought processes I havent heard yet than just the same old christian non-sense ive been hearing talk of my whole life.

sorry for even responding.

SoulMate333

No problem. We welcome any questions and would be happy to answer them. There will always be good and evil in the world.

2travel, for most of the groups, you need to be a Christian to join them. To my knowledge, non-Christians can only join the Common Ground Chess Chapel. If non-Christian members were genuinely interested and wanted to check out Jesus, that would be the place to go. Hope that helps.
