Beautiful
Citrine Table

I went to the site to check it out. I'm thinking of designing and having a nice large chess table/board built. .I still haven't figured out exactly what this citrine thing does? What makes it computerized...what special features does it provide and how much is one?

The Citrine is a chess computer. It is sold at different places on the internet. The lowest price I could find was 297 dollar. The special thing about it is that it has a so called auto sensory board. You can move the pieces like on a normal chess board and the computer "knows" which move you make.
The thing I did was to make a chess table out of it. You can see the Citrine before and after on the site.

Beautiful job! I was thinking about getting the Citrine last year, but budgetary concerns forced me to settle for the Novag Obsidian (which is still nice but not worth building a table for).
Having looked at your pictures, I have to ask: Are those the pieces that actually came with the Citrine or have you upgraded them somehow? They look too nice.

You're right! Those are not the pieces that came with the Citrine. I bought the Citrine with upgraded pieces. I will add that piece of information on the site to.
Wow, that is a really nice job.
Do you (or anyone) have experience with the similar DGT Board? Is it's much heftier price tag worth it for any reason?
And do the upgraded pieces improve the function because of the stonger magnets? They clearly enhance the appearance :)
Yes, I have the feeling that you don't have to position the pieces so precise as the original ones. It feels really natural to play with them.
Ah, a DGT board.. I would really love to own one of them. Those boards are totally different from the Citrine, much more beautiful, more versatile, and more expensive!
If I have the money I would like to do a table with a DGT board and a build in laptop connected to it. The screen and keyboard of the laptop would have to be somehow incorporated into the design.
I recently bought a Novag Citrine chess computer. It is a nice looking computer that is strong enough for me. The only thing that bothered me was where to put it. With the size of the board and all the wires it was kind of messy.
So I decided to build a table around it. Here is how it looks:
