classical play vs. modern

I love analyzing the classic players (my favorite is Alekhine and then Capablanca) but, in your opnion, does over studying classical play affect you in a negative way when chess has been sharpened so much since then?  Don't get me wrong, I love Tal, Fischer, and Kasparov but for some reason I always find myself analyzing and re-analyzing Alekhine, lol.

Good chess is good chess. We got here, because someone was there long ago.

You can't go wrong analysing the classics! I simply don't understand many of the great players today, but Alekhine's games are very instructiveSmile
