In some of my bullet games my clock is running down faster than I'm moving and loosing me games. Is this because of lag on my internet? It doesn't seem to happen all the time but it's seriously chafing me. Anything I can do about this?

Could be for different reasons, but some things you can check:

I agree. Chess.com explanations are not correct. It seems to happen in certain situations. Especially at the end of bullet games. The time changes don't occur at earlier times. For example I have 40 sec and opponent has 43 sec. I notice the time decreases normally. The issue is at 10 sec or less. Sometimes my opponent has 4 sec left and I have 8 sec. However, the time then switches to me with 2 sec and opponent with 7 sec. If it was a lag, it would happen randomly and could occur at the start of a bullet game. However it consistently happens at under 10 sec.

The game archives show the timestamps, so it is easy to see how long each move took and what the official times were.

Lag is not always consistent and can be impacted by processes on your local system, on your local network, at your ISP, at any of the hops between your ISP and the chess.com servers, all the way to the chess.com network and servers.

The clock you see at the client side will get updated when you receive your opponent's move. It is a lot more noticeable in the last seconds but it is just as likely to happen at parts of the game.

Time stamp is not always accurate, however. I've made moves in let's say 0.2 sec but the clock will run down 4-5 sec. The time stamp says 0.2 but the actual clock gives a different time (loss). And it does occur more towards the end of games rather than start. Sometimes it occurs as late as early middle game but I rarely see it at the start of a game, so there are other factors. I can't explain why. Other chess servers do not have the same issues. Another site has it occasionally but far less, and an older site never has the problem. So it's not the connection but chess.com

Probably, it is time to update your ISP.

I won't say that there might not be a bug that some players are getting impacted by, but the archive time per move is what was calculated by the server, with the allowed lag, and the clocks shown there are right. What was showing in your client may be a different story. You could always bug report right after a game where you notice the issue, and tgat will capture some details about your client state and send it to the site. Maybe something about your particular setup doesn't mesh well with some client code.

You really can't compare other sites, for the discussion. Others sites have different paths to their servers, potentially no ads, different amounts of code, etc. Those things can impact lag as well.

The links I posted have options that will maximize the quality of the connection.

The clock wont cheat you. May be some lag or some server issue.

Yes. That's what I was saying. Several people say the same. Lags are bad and there are problems with moving pieces and server we don't see with other servers. An IM friend and GM said the same.

Yeah these can happen for the meantime adjust your time settings to longer time control a minute or two.
