And why that particular word, I wonder. Why not "it blows" or "it flips" or any one of a number of similar verbs? Wonder what expression it's derived from and why a polite person would never, ever say it.

I know what “that sucks” or “you suck” is derived from, but it’s so normalized and has virtually taken on a new meaning in modern days that I think it’s socially acceptable to say nowadays.

oh god...i just realized im soo impolite, i use it a ton
"it blows" or "it flips": both relates to like short circuiting...so if that's the issue you wanna describe, i guess both are acceptable?
