Im returning to playing chess since a long retirement. Where I should focus my energy on? Openings, tactics? What area you feel is weakened the most after you are out of chess for a while. 2 aditional points. first sorry about my english is not my native language, secondly the best advice will recieve a virtual pint of beer. thank you. Max

Me too. I am playing the tactics trainer though I am slow. I am also doing chess mentor and the videos but I admit I do not have an actual plan. I guess I should be studying some openings ....yes...that's what I'll do...

I just jumped into the water but I found that my tactics skills are basically gone. Maybe its there where I should focus then. Thanks for your reply

The hardest part in coming back to chess is that you still have a strong intuition but not the tactical skills to back it up. So you end up pressing and losing quite needlessly.
