current grandmasters would be able to eat 1800 players for lunch and barely notice
If the best players from the 1800s were to come back and have access to the same theory that present day players have, they've still be among the best. If the best players of today were to go back, and have never had modern day theory, they'd probably be among the best players still.
I do agree that Paul Morphy's games do have more of a flair to them than those of present day masters.
in my opinion players of 1800 were better, what do you think?
