This is how I see it....people are free to type and comment whatever they want. Nothing can stop them!
Well, nothing can stop them is incorrect. There are numerous ways to do that.

Good point valymer, as a result the important comments tend to rise to the surface. Think i may now go over there on a more permanent basis for this reason and other reasons.
And people keep referring to posting your stats as comments because they do it in the comments section.
They are stats, not comments.
If you pick up a microfone that doesn't mean you're a singer.
If you live on the north pole that doesn't mean you're a polarbear.
If you post a stat in a comment section that doesn't mean you're commenting.
And the comment section was NOT created for that.
So you ARE littering your stats all over the place.
NR.

I concur, not all comments are interesting or are equal.
All they need to do is make comments votable like Chess Tempo, problem solved. Comments with too many negative votes get auto-hidden, and you have to click something to show them.
In my opinion, having a [COMMENT HIDDEN] placeholder instead of an inane comment does not change anything, except if the comment itself was very long.
I concur, not all comments are interesting or are equal.
You still don't get it completely. I can't say it clearer than this.
Stats are not comments. They're stats.
See my answer above.
It depends a lot of how "voting off" is dealt with. A wall of inane comments is no worse than a wall of "this content has been removed" comments.

Then why is someone putting them in the "Comments" section of the page? They are comments by virtue of the fact that someone is putting them into the "Comments" section, and chess.com features them as comments on your home page.
whatever...

So if you write something in a book titled "Greatest Prose Ever", then what you have written is automatically the greatest prose ever?
No.

Did I tell you that you could write that?
No Master! hahahahahahaha Im going to tell YOU something to write! HA!

True and I agree with that. The whole post should disappear without trace. And maybe a ban from comments threads for serial offenders.

I have just been doing TT for like an hour and noticed the following. On the whole, for the past two days, there have been significantly less new comments.
Two people I consistently see still are flying the flags of Serbia and France. The Serbian guy does what I used to do: Two lines of stats. The French man says "easy" mostly.
And of course, there was one comment by Mr. John Parkin (JP510) who usually posts excellent analysis (with the board) and continuations of complicated problems. Thank you, John :)
I also saw the Houdini calculation from Valymer (Thank you :)), which got me to think that I should get an engine, too. Then I can help myself and be helpful to others in TT :)
@Nobodyreally, I am sorry about Kaynight. I hope you are not too distraught over this. It is sad that he left as soon as him and I said hello/hola to each other. I am glad though, that I made amends with him before he left.
Maybe he is taking a short break. Maybe he will come back. Let's hope so :)

Thank you. They closed his account for something he said.
He will be back, don't worry. (and for me).
The moment they reopen his account which i'm sure they will, I will go straight to the thread (I think I know what this is all about) and make printscreens to see how bad it was. One thing I can quarantee. There must have been a good reason. We will see.
I've seen literally seen thousands and thousands of his posts. And he never REALLY crossed the line.
NOW, this was a comment, not a stat.
NOW, this was a comment, not a stat.
haha Yes, and a very heart-felt one at that, too :)
As for Kaynight's comment which got him banned, as Annabella said, people are free to type, and people's reactions to what have been typed seem to vary greatly.
I must admit, a cutting comment directed toward another person can be amusing, and I also love it when completely absurd comments (i.e. "People who go for perpetual checks are losers," "You shouldn't play for time in a game with time control") are shot down mercilessly, but sometimes, as everyone knows, there's just no need for very rough words.
I am sure, as you said, we will get to the bottom of it when Kaynight comes back :)
I dont think he is complaining about having to read his comments, i think the issue is as that oerson stated. They have Track Changes on, and everytime someone posts he gets an alert.
In a community open to the whole wide world, he chooses to get an alert everytime someone posts.......... Well now he knows, not everybody is to his liking.
I have over 600 posts on TT going back 5 years. There's no way for me to find and uncheck the notify for all of the posts I have made. Five years ago, you didn't see idiotic posts like "FIRST!" or tons of people posting only the percentage they got. ChessKid.com is available if you feel the need.
I no longer will try to help anyone with a problem on tactic trainer because I will get emails for every "+6" post that someone makes, instead of a follow-up question to what I wrote.
For anyone who truly is clueless as to how to save their stats. Use notepad. Or the site's page that tells you your stats. http://www.chess.com/tactics/stats
I find it ironic that you would block so many people you disagree with, but have no problems with annoying others yourself. I have no way to block your posts. It's just spam. When you signed up, you agreed to the TOS which states: "The following behavior is prohibited and can result in your being kicked or banned: [...] spamming or advertising competitive websites, [...] intentionally pointless/distracting posts.
"In a community open to the whole wide world, he chooses to get an alert everytime someone posts"
To restate more accurately - "In a community open to the whole wide world [which has clearly defined rules about what can be posted], he chooses to get an alert everytime someone posts"
It's clear from your responses to anyone that has tried to get through to you that you enjoy annoying them.

I found my new sig.
We had already established posting an individual's stat directly relating to the exact tactic on the page is NOT forum SPAM according to the many accepted definitions. You could really, really, really wish it was (with sugar on top) because it would make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside to be "right", but nevertheless, wish or no wish, you would still remain as you are, in your argument...incorrect.
This is how I see it....people are free to type and comment whatever they want. Nothing can stop them!
