Should I just give up the mode entirely?

You won't improve because chesscom doesn't want improvement. Cheatcom doesn't care about players, this is why they make ez puzzles...

Blitz games are a lot of fun, but they take time to get good at—especially if you’ve been playing slow chess for years. It took me ten years to improve. Every game felt like I was rewiring my brain to play moves that confused my opponent instead of just trying to win material.

You have to keep an eye on the clock—that was the hardest part for me. You also have to trust your instincts. Blitz is about stealth, and that means knowing checkmate patterns by heart so you can spot them fast and strike while your opponent is focused on grabbing pieces.

There are many other tricks too, most based on recognizing the common mistakes people make when they play too quickly or use premoves.

You must of read it wrong I have played several 100s on rapid, I think I'm 1300 on that, I play less rapid games and tend to try to play stronger, slower chess in that mode.
