Computer Chess and Real Chess

Hi!

Does anyone else feel really awkward when transitioning between a 2D computer layout, and playing someone on a real chess board?

It's enough to make me miss things and make mistakes just because the pieces look different.

Just want to see if I'm weird/alone : )

I use ofcourse a real chess board in otb chess and the computer screen in chess online but I find it much more fun to play over the board :)

Decades ago I had a hard time going from 2D diagrams in books to a real board with the same analytical capabilities. After many years of doing a lot of both, and adding two and one-half decades of computer and then internet chess, there is no difference.

Where I have problems is 3D computer graphics. Those are awkward and I miss things.

I have the same problem Cherrry your not alone. It takes me between half of a game to a full game to "see" the board better with a real set and pieces
