Hmm, I must say I am confused as well. Is there something in the Terms Of Service that you can point to, or is there some help file which clarifies their position on this further?
Love Hawaii, by the way.

wow that seems silly to me, as I think the staff should be aware of verbal abuse, and do more to protect people from such comments and inappropriate behavior.. I fully support you on this Danielle.. I am writing a letter to the owner right now.. Also what is the deal with the topic " how many girls are on chess.com" ... now if anything should be deleted its that forum topic.. talk to you soon..:)
lol Bigpoison, I must have missed the fine print that says "When logging on, please leve you brain at the door, dumb yourself down, & just shut up & Play chess"
Yea, that discussion could easily get out of hand, but is definitely relevant. I think that, especially as women get stronger and stronger in general, that the "sexism" and "male superiority" attitude is falling by the wayside.
In my opinion, the WFM, WIM and WGM titles should be done away with. Equality for everyone, especially now that there are more than a couple 2500+ females who play like champions.
when you post a forum topic that is not chess related make sure you choose 'off topic', rather than general chess discussion.. that will help... although i don't think it should matter..:)
I think it was a very good thread, and I don't understand why it has been removed. I have also had annoying remarks by some male players, and i try to avoid those.
I understand Chess.com's point of view, even if it may be slightly offensive. Hypothetically, if you consider these posts as crimes, SurferGirl may be looked to for Inciting a Riot (if posts got out of hand). The "men" who wrote to her could be charged with Sexual Harrasment. They are seperate incidences and I assume that is why chess.com handled it this way. I would be shocked if they didn't follow up with an email to you (surfergirl) to ask for Notes or Emails from any potential violaters of Chess.com's rules.
For clarification of my standpoint, I think chess.com should have backed off, but since it is a business, it is necessary to handle it in this way. The only people you may offend with your post are probably potential violators or chauvinists.
Aaron
Post Script: Did anyone see Blunders posts?! She is trying to get hitched on here, and solicit a membership upgrade. (She confirmed she was very serious)
Good call Aaron81 now for the dumber view.
Dear DanielleSurferGirl,
In American terms I think that chess.com is meant to be basically a 'fun' site. The forum topics you are posting seem to me rather serious. When people cross the line don't forget the report abuse button. Also please dont be upset if men disagree with your forum points, let the boys be boys with their rascal behaviour. I hope that you dont expect that others must agree with you, surely that is fascism.
How do you deal in Hawaii or wherever when someone hits on you. I dont want to know I'm just making the obsevation that most people receive unwelcome advances and deal with them.
Thank You
John Boy
I do deal with them John boy, but it doesn't mean I have to accept the situation & try to do something about it to try to make it better for all. I do report really threatening or racial abusers, but the very very few idiots (most people here are really nice) I have simply quit games I was playing with them (I dont care about the ratings) and just blocked them permanently. I am here to play chess, have fun, & to meet new people.
But why is my post taken off, when as I said there's all these non-chess related & very silly posts still on. "Picachoo"? "Word Association?" I guess I better stick to subjects like "Scooby Doo" or "What Kind of Pizza Do You Like" (just being silly now)
Pickachu, Word Association etc are on the "Off Topic" forum. This post is on the General Chess Discussion forum. If your previous one was as well, they had a point...
It was removed as this is a family site and the threads content was not appropriate. You were informed that threads like that were not appropriate for the forums because of its content. If you have a problem with a member on the site being abusive, please use the report abuse link at the bottom of the page.
Chess.com is a friendly community. We try to keep it that way by following a common set of rules for posting. The following topics are not allowed in the main public forums or chat rooms:
1. The thread where degoratory towards men.
2. It wasn´t about chess, you should have created it in the "Off Topic" forum.
3. There where nothing intelligent about the thread at all, it was a bunch of insults. Stop acting like a martyr.
Tricklev, it wasn't derogatory against men, just the few idiots. It was stated in my original post that it was not meant for the 99% nice guys here. I know it was stupid to think that maybe they would read it & maybe think twice next time they wanted to say something nasty to a woman while they were playing Chess with them. I am naive in that way as to thinking maybe if someone speaks out from time to time maybe things will get better. I would like this to be a totally family friendly site. is that too much to ask for?
Sometimes I don't like the moderation on this site.
I think Aaron got to the heart of the matter and that is that chess.com is a business and is liable to cover its own butt before worrying about your freedom of speech in its forums. Not to imply that you did anything wrong but unfortunately it's understandable that they removed it. If it were up to me I'd have left it.
They probably remove anything touching on issues that might even smell of being contentious to anyone for fear of reprisal, litigation or damage to the site's name. It's a sign of the times: most people and organizations have to tiptoe around certain hot PC-related issues in case someone cries about it or maybe even sues.
I have noticed that the application of the rules by moderators is often uneven which could be frustrating to those who feel like they've been single out; I know I've felt this way a couple times.
Perhaps the site could reserve certain areas for adults only and have participants agree to waive the site's responsibility for anything in those areas.

It's right here for those looking for it:

Well I recieved a message from the staff that my post on how men should treat women with respect here on Chess.com was innapropriate and that they deleted it saying that it wasn't chess related. Hmmm, yet we have posts here on Pikachoo, word associations, etc. I guess an intelligent discussion on respectful chess behavior is a no-no. I am confused.
