Arenas are one of the things that provide bonuses. That's obviously one of the things the site wanted to promote.
I'll explain it in a different way, since the people who designed this tournament and arena settings/rewards seem to have been selected on skill and competence, just as the politicians from my country.
The high and super high Elo players win 70-99% of matches in Arena, simply due to inability to match them against players of similar Elo. That means weaker opponents, easier wins, consecutive winning streaks, a lot of trophies from arena bonus.
All the other players below (as the Elo decreases), or at least the average players hover around the 50% win rate, as the Elo fluctuates based on wins and losses. What's fair is fair. You win some, you start getting matched against stronger players. You lose some, you get weaker players.
I am simply trying to state that the players in the 2nd category (average players) simply can't compete with the most hardcore players from first category (high Elo), on a quantitative level (which this leagues tournament of yours is strongly about - encouraging a lot of matches).
It's simply not humanly possible. The average player would need to play even twice as many matches (due to the arena compounding bonuses, up to 4 extra points/trophies, on winning streaks).
My whole point is that your system is flawed in a major way, simply annihilating the chances to compete to maybe 95% of all your player base.
Now, if you tell me straight on point that the tournament was never intended to offer a fair chance to everyone and was meant from day 1 to favor high Elo players, I'll rest my case and give you peace.
However, you guys keep bringing up that fair play thing everyone talks about, but everyone approaches it in a different way.
Simuls got banned because it leads to involuntary sandbagging, up to a certain point (along with other reasons, as arguably making the tournament pay2win, since only premium members can play several matches at once). Well, at least the website was getting some money from it.
My whole point is that arena settings are biased towards high Elo players and should have been disabled JUST FOR THE LEAGUES TOURNAMENT.
75-80% win rate Bullet arena players win trophies at least at the same pace of players playing 5-6 rapid matches at once.
You just decided overnight that simuls are no longer allowed, but act like there's nothing wrong with arena settings, as it's how it was intended to be.
Don't worry, it's against the rules for high rated players to play in arena, because the new rules say you're not allowed to:
"intentionally only playing lower rated opponents"
