Chess Olympiads

chessredpanda

oh.that would be intresting

TheGreatOogieBoogie

A 2000 who lives 100 years from now maybe.

chessredpanda

lol.

clunney

A 2055 drew Li Chao at the Reykjavik Open in the first round... And that was considered EXTREMELY SURPRISING. Carlsen is much stronger than Li Chao :)

chessredpanda

so it is possible?

SmyslovFan

Yes. Statistically there's about a 1% chance of the 2000 scoring. Carlsen has lost to ~2000 rated players in blitz and bullet. There's a real, non-zero chance, especially if he plays in Olympiads where he is most likely to face low-rated players in tournament conditions.

chessredpanda

Well so he wins them all?

Borg9

It's possible to beat Carlsen if he makes a lot of blunders.

That's a LOT of blunders and a big IF.

Still, someone had to say it.

Carlsen is the chess terminator.

It takes someone with guts of steel like me to face up to him.

chessredpanda

all right i will change my guts to steel!

Cool

Gilmar8Andersen

So, can a 1900 player do it?

chessredpanda

maybe?are you talking about yourself?

Pre_VizsIa

Magnus said on AMA that even when drunk, other masters would have a hard time beating him.

Cazaam

Anyone can beat him if he blunders like a noob so yes.
