Hello I am 17 I have been playing chess for the last 4 months and I am 1200 though these last 2 months I barely been playing due to some issues though those issues are resolved, I am coming back now. I am able to put in 4 hours a day which I used to do reasoning behind how I went from 390 elo to 1200 in like 2 maybe 2 and a half months. Which I heard was pretty impressive. Though sometimes I will play here and there and like right now I am playing a daily game with a friend though basically been kinda just inactive though I am back and I won't take that big of a break again it wasn't really a break just some real life stuff anyways I wanted to know if I got what it takes to become a NM I plan to put 4 hours a day in sometimes 3 and sometimes it'll probably be 2, because sometimes days can be busy you know I will 100% play for at least an hour a day. Starting tomorrow. I know NM won't be a 2 year thing like I know the sacrifices that come with this type of grind and it may not be worth it🤷♂️ Though for me I want it I have been wanting a chess title ever since I started. So is it a possibility that if I work at chess for "at least" 2 hours a day (Also I put between 6-8 hours a day on weekends) Can I become NM, I have this 11th grade and then 12th grade that comes with a summer and my mom will let me have another summer after 12th grade before I go out into getting a job and work (thanks mom) so I plan to do 6-8 hours a day in these 2 summers I have basically my plan for attacking this goal is just putting time into chess and hoping that time and experience will make me good player good enough to be NM I see all these youngster way better than me which is kinda demoralizing but they deserve it because they most likely put more time into chess than me and worked a lot for it. I also love chess my passion for chess is through the roof it has been all I think about lately all I have been wanting to do is play but like I couldn't because of some real life stuff. Anyways with a solid study plan and a lot of time to spare is it possible? Remember I am thinking of this as a long term goal so ideally the Next 5-7 years between there I want to achieve NM, is it possible? Now I would like it if an actual chess master responded I know age is a huge factor in chess am I too late? My friend who I am playing in these daily games says I can be really good being that I am young but then there are people out here younger than me and better which I don't care but I just wonder if I can still be good without starting super young.
