I think Morphy really wanted to be a women's shoe salesman.  I think he was originally reincarnated as Andy Warhol, and then he was spiritually reincarnated as Al Bundy.  So, let's give the old fella a break, that's a tough life.

Fischer actually reminds me somewhat of Al Bundy!

haha ookaaay ?? haha

Yes.

When I was much younger I had a very long winning streak.  There were a few games during that streak where I lost my queen. But I still won all the games.

So, a lot, "depends"

If this is true then you must have been playing players several classes lower than you , to win a queen down.

He was playing children.

I saw a game once where the guy was up a queen, then proceeded to drop his queen and lose.  It was between a 1000 and 1200 player.

When I was age 15, I was hired as Chess Instructor for the city of Decatur Illinois.

During the summer I would ride my motor scooter from one playground to another through out the area.

At each playground there would be about 10 kids all lined up with their chess boards ready. Thus I would play many simuls.  If a kid lost, he would be replaced or allowed to start over.

I had a long winning streak in these simuls,  A few times I lost my queen but still managed to win.

The kids were mostly ages 9-12.

I could not defeat Morphy even with odds because he is dead.

The first obstacle to such a contest would be to get Morphy's physical remains exumed. Local county officials may not be of a mind to honor such a request for any reason.

Once the body was removed from the tomb, assuming the skeleton was sound, there would not likely be tendons or muscles to move the bones.

In fact, there would be no way to determine what thoughts Morphy may have regarding such a game as the one proposed if he is capable of generating thoughts at all.

Voodoo is a popular method local of communicating with entities in the netherworld but not reliable.

Perhaps the event could be called Paul Morphy's Big Easy Voodoo Chess Challenge ...With Odds.

my 5 game match with knight odds against -400 elo : 1 0 1 1 1

so Morphy would have won a 6+ game match with a player rated less than fide 2000 with knight odds.

9 out of 10 times.

I like the idea of playing against someone from the past. It seems to me that Morphy really was a great tactician, and if a game between him and me got down to streetfight mode, I would clearly go down far more often than not. That said, he had no knowledge and very limited understanding. I mean, look at this game for example http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1281896, what is that pawn doing on f4? After the 5th move of white black is better already. As for when Morphy is black, I wonder, what would he do against my favourite opening, the Catalan? Quite likely he would obtain a bad position with no activity and suffer.

Does that mean I would win all the time? Certainly not. I would run into swindles. I would miscalculate and allow him the activity he needs to play brilliant chess. Besides, I wouldn't expect him to play a crappy opening in every single game, and once he has a good active position, being on the receiving end wouldn't be fun.

Uhuh. You probably also believe that Magnus Carlsen would score 4/5 in a knights oods match with a 2460 player?

i am optimistic about 3/5 in 3|0 blitz.

whats your prediction?

Rumo75

0/5 in 3-minute blitz. And 0/100 in tournament games, which is what we are talking about, I think.
