Has Anyone ever headr of the Crab Opening, and if so, could you describe to me what it is? Thanks!

Looks like 1. a4 e5  2. h4   You'll find no Master games in the database with this opening.  Would think it gives even chances for both Black and White though.  Maybe Black would have a jump in development.

I think there are a few examples of the crap opening in the Master Database though.

Privet, snakes!  Hey, I sent you an unrated game. Perhaps you could give me a crash course on this opening?

If by equal chances you mean completely throw away your advantage and waste your first 2 moves.

Helzeth

Anand didnt win. It was declared null by you, remember?

Helzeth

I really don't see the issue here. If he refuses to follow your Russian path you should just disown him and have another son. Problem solved.

fvaisey

Exactly what I mean Scott.  It's generally accepted that White starts with an advantage.  This seems to throw it away with giving black a serious advantage so I think it should be about even.  I'm guessing that is what they are trying to discover with this themed tournament.

fvaisey

Then just thoroughly trounce him on the chess board as often as possible and comment "Take that Anand" after each game.  You can't refuse a chess game with your old man, right?

Helzeth

I'm sorry. I cannot reveal any other personal details other than the fact that I am a true russian. I've disowned many sons and they constantly try to track me down in an attempt to turn me into a Swede. Any sort of revelation of who I am will lead to them finding me, they're resourcefull critters, I'll give them that.

Emotion is superb if it's towards Petrosians great play. Otherwise you should discard them for the good of the state.

@Helzeth... you remind me of a Russian doctor who moved to Sweden years ago, then moved on to Rota..ring a bell?

fvaisey

I have 5 children.   Oldest 38, youngest 16.

When I was a teenager I attempted to make a rubber stamp but put the letters in reverse order.  My name came out as  yesiaV nilknarF  which I thought was the perfect Russian name...

That is confirmed by the fact that I started playing chess at 8 and I have yet to get over a 1600 rating.  Cry

I find this thread abit confusing :) Since when does a dad disown his kid over chess? Give me more ...

fvaisey

What better reason to disown a kid?  If they have real problems you have to be all supportive and stuff.

_IronButterfly_

The way I see it is..NOT your fault if he just found out.  Why did his mom tell him..

Look it is a long story ,I can't disown him for two reasons ...first he is my son and second I don't know his real name

Now this is a real problem, it has not happened to me but it did happen to a friend of mine. He had a pretty damn good solution:

He told his child that they were going to go eat icecream. When the foolish kid turned his head he used a phazer (often seen in star trek if you don't know where to find one), dragged the uncouncious kid into an icecream truck and drove off into the desert. He then called for a helicopter which he used to get away from the scene with, leaving no tracks.

I highly recommend this method. Asking their name is just awkward.

_IronButterfly_

pssst..@fvaisey, there is a possibility that they are stringing us along with their imagination, between moves. :)

fvaisey

13 year olds can be pretty intractable.  However, if you attempt to bribe him with ice cream he might just tell you his real name even without the use of a phazer.

Possibly you can talk him into going to a chess tournament with you and then peek over his shoulder when he fills out the entry form.

Helzeth

I fully agree with your opinion on me.
