Curious as to why this might've happened

I just lost 103 rating points in a game of Chess960 against someone whose elo is a bit higher than mine (with the computer telling me that my in-game elo score was higher than my actual rating). I'm curious if it's because not so many people play Chess960, or for some other reason? (Not that I care about my Chess960 rating)

It's because you haven't played much Chess960, and because of this you lose and win more points
