Curious thing happened in live chess

I was just playing a 15|5 with somebody higher rated than myself called emkaz123. I was doing quite well and we were halfway through the game when it suddenly (on his move) said 'Game Aborted'. I've checked both our game archives and it doesn't seem to exist.

In my opponent's comments people have warned that he disconnects when losing- is it possible that he has found some sort of hack to 'abort' when losing?

I am hearing something like this for the first time.

I believe it was server restart we did today about 100 minutes ago. There was a warning 45 minutes before shown to users, maybe you didn't notice that. I'm sorry, in such case games in progress have to be aborted. Cheers!

I agree that the case was due to a server shutdown.

Well- my apologies to poor emkaz for doubting!

I use the iPhone app which I presume won't display warnings. Perhaps an email or IM would reach everybody next time :-)

Ask for a rematch. Or keep playing as sooner a later you get a chance to get that win.
