It's the range for the ratings of potential players you'll be paired up with. So for example, your rapid rating is 1450. This means that the highest-rated rapid player chess.com might face you against would have a rating of 1850, and the lowest would have a rating of 1050.

Thank but i have one more question what if i do like -500 insetead of -400
In that case, you might play 1950 or 950 players. However, I highly doubt this will happen, as chess.com has a priority system in place to ensure you play people closest to your rating. So normally the most amount of rating variation would be 50-100 points.

Um when i go to custom game it has a range rating -400<>+400 what is that?
