Daily vs. Rapid Ratings

What should the average rating spread be between various times controls? I have recently taken up daily chess, and I am trying to get a rough estimate of where I should be rated (to set my expectations).

It really depends on the player and whether or not they use allowed resources in Daily. Differences from 400-600 certainly isn't that uncommon.

I hope this is relevant to your question .... I've played daily chess almost exclusively for many years.  In addition to the much longer time controls, it allows features (crutches) such as access to a comprehensive opening database, and an analysis board that allows you to move pieces around the board rather than having to visualize them yourself (it says nothing about the strength of the moves, but you don't have to visualize them in your head).

Well the big downside for me is that these crutches have spoiled me and trashed my ability to play "real" chess where these features don't exist.  More recently, I've tried playing some online games with long clock times since I'm a slow mover (like 45-60 mins) in an attempt to rekindle those skills.  Occasionally I play a strong "rapid" game, but frequently I make gross mistakes and blunders and lose badly.

The net of all this is I'm a decent daily player with a rating somewhere in the 1800s, while my rapid rating is something like 1100.

I find certain things about daily chess really appealing and it fits my schedule much better, but at least for me, my "real" chess playing abilities have suffered greatly.
