have you guys tried Chess Openings Wizard Express? its very useful

It looks a little dated, and opening books available for Chessbase products are excellent.

Cool idea. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

Fritz virtual coach continues to amuse, wants black to castle ASAP...

Deep Fritz is pondering a long castle, or 10. e3. I'm going to let it 'think' overnight before moving.

Still in book here.

I thought I'd add another kibitzer with Critter 1.6. At the moment, it gives equal weight to 10. e3 and 10. Rc1, as it thinkgs they both transpose to the same best line.

By the way Dazed, are you Chessgames1968? I can see an analysis for today on the chessbase cloud for Deep Fritz 13 currently at 30 plies for this position, and it's a Canadian account. :)

If that's you, take a look right below you for the name skysaw... I'm waving hello!

So we are looking at 1 day per move? with analysis always on, hope you dont burn your pcs out :)

Well, this is going to be a draw. You're losing some time here guys...

Avatar of johnyoudell

Hmmm, I rather think I'm offering eleven to ten Houdini victory, eleven to eight Fritz victory and even money the draw.

Care for a slice of that action hicetnunc? Betting on a sure thing. And what about the owners/stables? Gotta back your runners surely at those tempting odds?

Looking purely at the stats of the ELO system (from here), Houdini has a rating of 3251, compared to Deep Fritz 13's rating of 3081. Thats a difference of 170 points. According to the ELO foruma for expected percentage wins, Fritz is expected to win 27% of the time.

Why is that losing time? You can't be sure after you do it. And even drawn games can be great.

I won't bet money through Internet, but let's have an analysis session if I lose John.

Thanks, those are the rating stats I was trying to find yesterday. Those should be accurate, and they do reflect the 4 CPU reality on both our computers.

Well, it assumes a perfect world. ;)

It is very unlikely that the stats on both of your computers are identical.

You can't really go by the posted ELO numbers. The strength will vary depending on machine and length of time given per move. If there's not a standard set here, the numbers don't help much.

Anybody can beat Houdini if you set it to only look 3 plies, for example.

And also the skill of the operator....

Does anyone agree with the Fritz virtual coach, that h6 was not a good move for black?
