how to defend the following position? I lost the game by playing a blunder in next move, but since all of you in the forum are excellent players, how would you defend the h-file and the second rank?

Black wasted so much time in their attack, either just put a ton of defense to h2 or even in that closed of a position, you could consider running your king to the queenside. That h5 sac only makes sense if the black rook is still on the h file (such as after 0-0-0). You win in the long run, just don't let them invade along the h file after they double their Rooks.
