For the lost pawn, white's compensation is the open lines for its bishop and an uncastleable king.

Losing the ability to castle isn't so important when the queens aren't on the board.

Sure white has the open f1-a6 diagonal... but black can get that too after moving the e pawn, so that's not so important. More importantly the structure is pretty symmetrical, black has no weak points white can target, and black has a lead in development.

If this were my game, I'd think white has zero compensation, and is simply down a pawn.
