Diamond membership titled player

@ponz111 You are a big man to be able to forgive such a scummy move.
It seems like the first law of TDs, to be able to completely take off the player hat while wearing the TD hat. It would not even be as bad, had he said "I was too lazy and didn't turn it in, and then the time limit expired. sorry".
But good for him that he actually told you the truth.

I think one reason he told me the truth is that he thought it was no big deal.
However much worse things than that can and do happen to people and life is too short to hold a grudge.

I think a worse day was when my wife and I were taken to a room and we were told by my doctor that I had Alzheimers and within one year I would be in a nursing home and out of my mind and with in two years I would be dead. Then things got worse from there...

Actuallly, I just checked, My FIDE rating is 2528 and this is based on 27 games but I need 3 more games to make it permanent.
[but I do not see anyone giving me a FM title for having a rating over 2300]

Thetubester, my game is slow not fast. Or I should say I used to be very good at slow, correspondence chess. Now I play 15 minute chess and my rating on another venue for that kind of chess is not even 2000.
What I am doing [for those who are interested] is trying to find any players who participated in the two tournaments in Kankakee Illinois where I won 8 straight games with no draws and no losses. If I can find such a player who knows who the tournament director was [I once knew but forgot] then there is at least a chance that I will get my over 2200 USCF rating.

Someone without money troubles just sponsor this guy already. It's 100 bucks a year that ponz111 shouldn't have to pay. He's gone through enough, and has proven himself.

Shoot, you know what? I will do it. You're an FM in my book, ponz. I will pay your membership. Consider yourself entitled.

If you have a title in the first place then you don't need the diamond membership, since it's improvement materials they wouldn't benefit from.

checkevrytim Yes, a very nice gesture but I have to decline. I really can pay my own way and really do not need a "diamond" membership.
Of course it would be nice to have it but can live with a less expensive membership which I already have.
Actually I was not really "upset" about not being recognized by Chess.com although I think they should change their policy. I mean winning the Correspondence Championship for the whole United States is much more of a achievement than say becoming at USCF master. In the preliminary round you must be an expert or master to play. And then only the winner of each prelim even gets to the finals.
So they should recognize select correspondence achievements...
In any event, THANKS checkevryim!!

When I think about it, it seems rather unfair to everybody else -- the NM or higher gets to have a free membership not just for a year, but for a lifetime -- they could be saving several thousands of dollars in the long term. But I guess this is chess.com's way of paying tribute to players who have achieved a high level of skill in chess, as such a thing would rarely be recognized by the general public.
Part of it too is that many of the site materials aren't catered towards of master strength or higher so they wouldn't find them to be particularly useful. Although I expect some titled players enjoy refresher lessons on chess fundamentals too. But mainly because titled players have paid their chess dues. Besides NM and above is a very small percentage of chess players, less than one half of one percent of active tournament players.

edit: the chart doesn't come out correctly for me in the post: to be a NM is in the top .34 percent of active USCF chess players in the US.
is there something similar to that table with FIDE ratings? thanks in advance
Just to be clear, In 1973 I played in the US Open in Chicago and was tied for first-4 way time-after 6 games [777 players] but had to drop out due to illness after 8 games. That brought my rating up to 2188. and then there were two uscf tournaments in my home town of Kankakee Illinois. These were 4 round tournaments. I won the first tournament with a score of 4 wins no losses and no draws and that right there was enough to bring my rating over 2200.
Then there was another 4 round tournament and I risked my rating to play again as the top players were class B. I played and again won with a score of 4 wins and no losses and no draws--so 8 straight wins after my 2188 rating.
I looked in Chess Life for my new rating and after 2 months no change. Then I waited for the 3rd month and no change. It took a while but I finally got the tournament director [for both tournments] on the phone and asked about the situation?
He told me that while he was tournament director--he also played in both tournaments and had bad results--so he did not turn in the material to the USCF! I was upset for a couple of days but then I was doing very well in correspondence chess and decided correspondence was the game for me [I still had severe sleep problems and lost my long time employment over this] . So, I decided just to forgive that tournament director and just concentrate on correspondence chess which I could do best.
39 years later I need a title to play free and it would save me a few hundred $ but I very much understand that rules are rules and chess.com cannot make an exception in my [unusual] case...
