Did Bobby Fischer drive?

I read this about the World Championship match in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1972

"A member of his camp, then Catholic priest Bill Lombardy, ripped wiring from Fischer’s car so he would be unable to drive himself to the airport."

I never saw a picture of kasparov driving either.

I think it's safe to assume that all top GMs don't know how to drive until proven otherwise.

Andor (André, Andre, Andrei) Arnoldovich Lilienthal[2][3] (May 5, 1911 – May 8, 2010[1]) was a Hungarian and Soviet chess Grandmaster. In his long career, he played against ten male and female world champions, beating Emanuel Lasker, José Raúl Capablanca, Alexander Alekhine, Max Euwe, Mikhail Botvinnik, Vasily Smyslov, and Vera Menchik.[4][5] In a 2005 article, Slobodan Adzic wrote that Lilienthal was still active, in good health, driving his car, and writing articles for chess magazines.[4] At the time of his death, he was the oldest living grandmaster, and the last surviving person from the original group of grandmasters awarded the title by FIDE in 1950.

I've never seen a picture of Bill O' Reilly driving either, or President Obama, or Nancy Pelosi.

Come to think of it, I've never seen a picture of Ann Coulter driving either.

I've never seen a picture of Rafa Nadal driving either. So I think it's safe to say that none of these people know how to drive.

Exactly!  I think they probably have people around them all the time that will drive for them.

I have never seen a picture of myself driving, so I must conclude that I do not, in fact, drive.

Now that you guys mention it I don't know a single person who drives...

kco

True enugh .. and Yes, Ish's "not driving" probably just helps the argument about those who don't drive largely having physical and/or mental issues :P

While I don't know it for a fact, I seriously doubt that Fischer owned a car after 1975.  He undoubtedly did have a license, and he probably rented cars when needed.

Fischer could fly like Superman, so he didn't need a driver's license. He never used deodorant, and his breath was always fresh. His favorite band was Yes, and he found television to be a pointless distraction.
