Did chess com purge thousands of accounts?

I just noticed over the last couple days chess com removed many accounts from the global ranking. I am around 1850 rated and just yesterday I was top ~105k and 99.5% but am now top 18k and 99.9% surprise

Does anyone know what happened? Did chesscom purge duplicate accounts or simply raise the threshold for being a delisted inactive account?

Interesting question.

Check here - usual accounts that one would usually see - @Hikaru , @MagnusCarlsen, among others, don't appear.

That change is a loss. I liked to see how I ranked before, even if it was counting (as I understood) only the players active in the past 90 days. Now, it seems they count only who's online AND active in live games atm.

One more "improvement" that improves nothing and makes things worse.

Someone, somewhere, tries not to get fired and keep justifying their salary (ies)...

yeah, right now my global rank is even more ridiculously low. past 90 days active is reasonable but only counting people live renders the stat a useless and unstable metric. maybe its just a temporary bug they will fix

It might be a bug. At certain moment I was #500 and then even #40. Even number of titled players who play in titled Tuesdays is bigger than 40, for instance.
