Is there a true difference in improving when choosing between 1 hour and 4-7hour time controls compared to blitz vs standard time controls

I mean i see super GMs play alot of games that last for 4-7hours (especially big matches like WCC)

Do i get better playing if its 4-7hours than 1 hour

( i wont count the 1-14 days stuff in chess.com cause thats not sitting on a chair for almost 7hours straight or close enough)

Yes, you will get much better playing a longer time control than you will playing blitz.

The reasons should be obvious, but in case they aren't, the main one is that you have much more time to calculate variations and blunder check.

Blitz is great for working on openings though.  You can get a lot of reps in a relatively short time.

I think the question is not about blitz vs standard, but about something like g/60 v 40/2 hours etc, like the pros play.

I think g/60 or g/90 is fine, with little difference between that and the very long time controls for players under maybe 1800 or so. I do not think we can use that extra time effectively anyway.
