Dilemma

NOTE: THIS IS ABOUT A GAME CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS, BUT MY QUERY IS A GENERAL ONE AND NOT TO DO WITH SPECIFIC MOVES OR TACTICS.

I find myself up in material against a better player. I can see a way of possibly forcing a draw by perpetual check in a few moves, but I can't see a chance to win just yet. He has pieces around my king but I can't see an immediate mate threat. Should I take the draw opportunity if it arises, or should I push for a win and risk defeat?

to solicit an opinion regarding a game in progress is against the rules,it doesn't matter if it is a 'general one'.you are asking advice about a specific situation and how to proceed.
