Without doubt Gukesh. The now countless cases of Ding losing due to “nerve” or “slump” say something significant. He doesn’t deserve to be world champion

As much as I like Gukesh, I am rooting for Ding. Ding is the more seasoned player, and is still much stronger than Gukesh. While he isn’t as sharp or at his peak, he is still a seasoned player with lots of experience.

Ding has obviously been playing way worse since he won the championship against Ian...the question is whether he will be better by November. And even if he gets better, and if he was back he would be one of the strongest players in the world—Gukesh would still have a significant chance because he has been consistently beating the top players like Fabiano, Hikaru, and Ian in the Candidates. And even if Ding is strong at the start, he might crumble again if Gukesh matches his strength (which he should). I would say Gukesh has a 90% chance of winning the Championship.

Of course, if you had asked me that in 2023 I'd have said the same about Ian...so anything could happen. Ding has already proved once that he can pull an upset!

I think Gukesh may be slightly better (but still really close) but he may lose since a rapid tiebreak would heavily favor Ding
