Maybe.... Tongue out

well look if something is really wrong going on you should really speak up for yourself. I know Reb isn't a bad persopn, of course he and i wouldn't punch each other up we wouldn't want to be expelled from the games ! Wink

note: I was replying this to Lord Chaos.

I dont know, I believe it could be realy relaxing if you could (if it could be allowed) beat up player who just beat you up on the chess board.

its more relaxing to tell them at the end that the match was a dummy after they won.

I didnt really suspect anything until he went to play for his team. At this point I went to the arbiter and asked is it possible for him to play his team game and the one with me in the Open and the arbiter told me it is forbidden by FIDE so he would have to forfeit one of the games. I hung around the necessary hour for his forfeit to be " official" .

He should've done the classy thing and forfeited his game with you so you didn't need to wait around for an hour.

I've had someone stand me up like that as well at a national tournament, fortunately the guy at the board next to me had the same problem so I got the arbiters to pair us up.

Sorry..if it is forbidden, how can you then agree a draw?

How can you agree a draw when a game have not even started? And a player has not appeared officialy at the table?

My excuses if i missed smth....or missunderstood it..

Good luck!!

I didnt agree to the draw. However, if I had then I guess he would appear at the table, make some moves and then we agree to draw. I dont know if even this would be allowed for him though since he is forbidden to make moves in 2 games simultaneously by FIDE. Its possible, that even if I agree a draw he may still have been forfeited. It is such a rare/unusual situation that I think only a fide arbiter would have all the answers.

I have not been on tournament for a long time..but (i remember )there could be some rules where , if there is no claim then is no gain..the arbiter itself wont do nothing if one side does not make a claim..or protest the irregularity of tournament rules..

So maybee he just tried ..if it goes , goes..very dirty trick..

Luckilly , you  have seen him and already not agreed to nothing..and we have a happy ending..

Good Luck!!

Not much of a dirty trick as it is just a lie.

Lies aren't dirty tricks? I suppose you lie all the time... after all, it's hardly a wrong thing to do...

Avatar of Streptomicin

Lie is just a lie, not much of trickery there.

To do a trickery, you need little more imagination and efort, like in dirty OTB trick I. This one is just childish.

Maybe there is a language barrier here... but I think you just said a lie is not trickery.  Great, thanks for the insight!

Reb, you showed nice restraint over not having words with that guy after he needlessly made you sit at that table for an hour, on top of completely trying to deceive you in the first place.  I can't say I possess that type of class. I'm looking forward to the third installment. Smile

What i meant is that Lie is not much of a trickery, it is one, thats for sure, but most simple and childish version of it. To offer draw out of chess board like in tricks I, you need some guts and fast thinking.
