Disallowed to abort games?

I think the mods disabled my ability to abort games because I was aborting any time someone played a queen pawn opening ( I just don't like playing it). It's not temporary either, I've played about 10 games today and I could only abort if I was playing white. So what's going on here?

vanillasnake21

Yea they probably just read what I said since I openly admitted it, but that's ridiculous, I didn't violate their policy and didn't really "sandbag" anyone, sandbagging is when you resign midgame when opponenet is trying to win, I resigned/aborted right in the beginning so absolutely no harm done to anyone.

Pulpofeira

I guess you don't play OTB very often.

vanillasnake21

I've never played OTB but how is this different, why can't I abort a game before it's started? And I don't _have_ to play queen opening this is not a rule.

Pulpofeira

Of course it is different, you can't abort games OTB. You can forfeit as you wish though.

The fact that you want to abort based on the opening move your opponent plays is absurd and against fair-play ethics.
Deal with it.
vanillasnake21

ok so yea otb you can't abort, but still it's completely unfair that they've taken away this opportunity from me. And how is it against fair-play ethics, what's unfair about it exactly that I'm reluctant to play that opening?

BronsteinPawn

You cant go around the server running like a sissy from a queen's pawn opening.

That is ridiculous and funny lol, scared of 1.d4, lolo.

Anyways, just imagine if massive abortion of games wasnt punished. People would just go around aborting games because they didnt get White/Black, or because they didnt faced 1.e4 etc... Now that would actually be annoying and a horrible live chess. That is why you are forced to resign or play the damn game.

Or that he uses his brain very often too.

BronsteinPawn

If you dont want to face 1.d4 just put 10 euros on my Paypal account and I will play 1.e4, or get some friend to just play 1.e4 against you, whatever rocks your boat, lol.

They are attempting to cure your cowardice. Be thankful.

Wow, now that I think about it, YOU ARE RIGHT. They are trying to make him a real man! THANKS CHESS.COM.

If you pick and choose which openings you play against, naturally you're picking openings that you're better in. This is skewing your rating, and is the reason why this is against fair-play ethics.
vanillasnake21

@BronsteinPawn I'm afraid of that opening because it's extremely advanced with lots of calculations required. Not because I'm scared of it. And secondly if I only play opponents that play e4 I'm not picking people who I'm better against, lol, I lose 60% of the games I play against e4.

BronsteinPawn

Lol. great redundance there. You just admitted you are scared/afraid of it, I wasnt discussing the reasons.

So that is your approach? Because it is supposedly complicated you will not play it? Lol.

YOU GOTTA GET REKT TO REKT.

BronsteinPawn

And even then, you are completely wrong. 1.e4 openings, specially Sicilians require much more calculation, in most of the 1.d4 positions you can just use your intuition/strategical understanding.

vanillasnake21

Anyways I think it's more complicated, I hate playing Kings Indian every time and just being extremely passive. In any case I think it's completely up to me, I mean what harm is there from aborting on first move? It's not like I'm aborting all the games I play, only about 50-60% of them. So this is crazy unfair in every single way.

vanillasnake21

I just don't get why you're against it, look were not playing for Elo or money, if I want to play with someone who opens with e4 what is the big deal? So someone who opens with d4 will certainly find a pair also. I just don't get why I have to get restricted on this very basic idea that people should be able to play a game they enjoy playing rather than trudge through in monotony.

BronsteinPawn

You just dont get it.

If aborting all of the games you like would be allowed, Live Chess would be a mess.

That is why you cant abort all you want. Abortion is used to stop games if you suddenly have to do something else. Like lets say you were about to play a blitz game and  the door rang. You can abort and go see what happened.

However you cant abort games because you dont like 1.d4, this is a chess site, meant for people to play chess, not to have some sissies abort their games just because they play 1.d4

As I already said, pay me 100 euros per 3 hours and I will only play 1.e4, or get a friend or something to play 1.e4 against you.

vanillasnake21

lol @kaynight what are you talking about?

@BronsteinPawn I never said you should be allowed to abort indefinitely, the current system works perfectly I think it's something like 4-5 aborts allowed before a cooldown period is reached.

vanillasnake21

An even better solution would be something like match making, where I can pick the starting move to play against, just a suggestion, if I just get un-banned it'd be happy.
